(((watch online>))) Today: Predators v Flames live 11 April 2023
The Predators remained at 88 points with three games remaining, three points behind the Winnipeg Jets, who control their own destiny for the 8th seed. The Flames, after losing to Vancouver in the shootout on Saturday, have 90 points, just behind the Jets and two ahead of the Predators. The loser tonight between the Predators and Flames (Nashville leads the season series 2-0-0) could face elimination by the time the final horn sounds. The Winnipeg Jets face the San Jose Sharks (6:00 pm Central) and a win by the Jets will eliminate the loser of the game nearly three hours later. Even if the Jets lose in overtime (which doesn't seem likely considering it's the Sharks), if Nashville or Calgary loses in regulation, they'll still be eliminated. For either of these teams to have a realistic shot at the playoffs, they'll need to win, and they'll need to win in 60 minutes.
Elias Lindholm and Nazem Kadri scored third-period markers as the Flames rallied from an early 2-0 deficit, only to drop to 7-16 in games that were decided beyond regulation time. Despite the loss, Calgary earned at least a point for the sixth time in its last seven games, keeping its flickering playoff hopes alive going into two very winnable home games to conclude the season. After tonight’s must-win contest against the Predators, Calgary will close out the campaign Wednesday by hosting the Sharks. To finish strong and have a shot at the playoffs, the Flames will need to tighten things up in their own end.

Tyler Tofolli has a Goals Above Replacment (GAR) of 21. 8 - the next highest is the Predators' leader, Roman Josi with 12. 5. There's no player on either team that approaches his metrics on offense - both even strength and on the power play. Toffoli is a constant threat to score, and the Predators' defenders will have to be on alert whenever he has - or for that matter, or doesn't have - the puck. Player to Watch: Nashville PredatorsG Juuse Saros: While the Predators' chances at anything related to the postseason are extremely slim, the only reason they had a chance at all was the play of Juuse Saros. The Finnish netminder has had an incredible season statistically, despite the terrible defense in front of him.
Nashville Predators vs Calgary FlamesThe start of the Stanley Cup playoffs is still a week away, but Monday night’s Predators/Flames clash in Calgary certainly has a Game 7 feel to it. Neither Nashville or Calgary can afford another loss as they try to close ground on the Jets, who hold a one-point lead on the Flames and a three-point bulge on the Preds for the final wild-card spot in the West.
Calgary has given up at least three goals in five of its last six games at home, where the Flames have lost 10 of their last 15 outings. Predators Player Prop: Tommy Novak Over 0. 5 Goals (+310) Nashville’s recent scoring woes mean no Predators jump out as an obvious choice to back in the player prop category, particularly without top snipers Forsberg, Johansen and Duchene out of the lineup. The silver lining is the opportunity to take a shot at fat prices with less heralded players who are seeing more ice time than usual, and Novak fits the bill.
Nashville has won six of the last seven meetings with the Flames, including a 2-1 decision Jan. 16 in Music City and a 4-1 victory on Nov. 3 in Calgary. Latest Betting Notes: Predators After trading off several key veterans at the trade deadline and then losing stars Roman Josi, Filip Forsberg, Ryan Johansen and Matt Duchene to injuries, the Predators weren’t expected to still be alive for a playoff spot with a week to go. Although their postseason chances took a huge hit with Saturday’s 2-0 loss at Winnipeg, the Preds still have three games left to overcome the Jets’ three-point lead for the final wild-card spot in the West. Juuse Saros continues to give his team a chance every night, stopping 36 of 38 shots on Saturday as the Predators allowed two goals or less for the sixth time in their last seven games.

And he hasn't slowed down in recent games - all of which have been important to their own playoff chase. In his last five games, Toffoli has three goals and three assists, but is a dominant force analytically as well.
